"The experience of the Kurdish city of Kobani provides a living example for Lebanon, as the world watches IS advance toward the city and a conspiracy implicates all parties. It may be that the only remaining hope is that we do not reach the point at which we discover if Lebanon is a “red line” in the calculations of the international coalition. But the Lebanese have a large enough reservoir of accumulated experiences to be certain that the idea that foreigners will intervene to prevent any potential war has never been anything but a mirage."
